Advocate!

We can respond to injustice in two essential ways. First, we can provide direct relief or add for people in need wherever and whoever they might be. Catholic Relief Services does this by responding to both natural and man made disasters regardless of who is involved. Second, we can work to address the root causes of poverty and conflict by trying to make laws, economic systems, and social structures more just. This essential aspect of the work for justice is called advocacy. Catholic Relief Services complements its humanitarian and development activities with policy analysis and advocacy on issues like migration, food aid, international assistance, trade, and extractive industries that make an enormous impact on the lives of poor people around the globe.
