In March 2002 I traveled with Catholic Relief Services to Rwanda as one of six participants in the "Called to Witness" program for youth ministers. I am a painter and at the time, was the youth minister at my parish. "Called to Witness" is a way for more people, especially youth, to learn of the work that CRS does in other countries. My way of doing this was to create over 30 drawings, paintings and photo collages along with accompanying text. The exhibit was first shown at the Albany NY Pastoral Center in January/February 2003. The pieces created are my personal visual reflections about the intense week in Rwanda and the witness of the work that CRS is engaged in.
