Award-Winning DVD, Water for Life

DVD

Only 2.5 percent of the world's water is freshwater, of which 3/4 is stored in the polar ice caps. This leaves less than 1 percent of freshwater for drinking, farming and manufacturing. Water in the world is so scarce that in 2005 the United Nations declared 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Water for Life. Find out how CRS works with partners in developing countries, Malawi and Brazil, to create sustainable water systems such as boreholes and other water capturing devices. Inside the DVD is a lesson plan for high school students and adults.

The Water for Life DVD illustrates the work of Catholic Relief Services in partnership with the National Council of Catholic Women in responding to the critical need for water projects in developing countries. The greatest humanitarian crisis in the world today is food and water scarcity issues that threaten the peace and security of most developing nations.
