CRS Rwanda

"Jean Bosco is now 18 years old. When he was 7 and his brother Mukwiye was 2, his father died of AIDS. When he was only 14 (and Mukwiye 9) his mother also succumbed to the dreadful disease. From that day he has been the head of his small household. And he is HIV positive. At the tender age of 14, he took on the awesome responsibility of taking care of the household and his little brother without complaint."

Catholic Relief Services has been in Rwanda since 1963 providing relief and development services to people like Jean Bosco. Because of the food assistance he receives he is able to focus a little more of his time and energy on his brother. Jean is making sure that his brother gets the education he could not complete. Right now the work of CRS: Rwanda "is assisting in the areas of agriculture, microfinance and peace-building and providing food assistance to the most vulnerable such as orphans, the disabled, and children and families affected by HIV and AIDS." These are a few of the stories of people who are touched by the work of CRS in Rwanda.
