Praying for Rwanda
As a people of faith we have no greater power than the power of prayer. With prayer we can extend our love and support to people half a world away. With that in mind, and reassured by the request for prayers from our brothers and sisters in Rwanda, we invite you to take the next five minutes to pray for the people of Rwanda right here at your computer.
"Muzatubwirire abavandimwe bacu bo muri Amerika badusabire mu kwemera kwacu mu gihe tukibuka ibibazo byatewe n'intambara."
"Tell the people of America to pray for our faith as we struggle with the memories of the war (genocide)."

Reading: John 14: 27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid.

Ever loving God, You who watch over all Your children with unfailing care, keep our brothers and sisters of Rwanda in the safe embrace of Your love. Release them from the painful memory of genocide. Mend broken hearts and create in them a spirit of national unity.
God of compassion, raise up our brothers and sisters of Rwanda and give them strength to continue on the long road toward justice. We pray that they forgive themselves and others who hurt them, even as You have forgiven them.
All powerful and living God, be our strength and refuge through all adversity, even as You grant strength and refuge in adversity to our brothers and sisters of Rwanda.
Oh, God, who called us into life in the womb, watch over the children who became orphans as a result of the Rwandan genocide. May they be enriched by Your grace.
Oh God, You who are the Wise Providence, restore wholeness to families, and mend the relationships of our Rwandan brothers and sisters. Give them a new way of relating to each other.
God, creator of all, lead our Rwandan brothers and sisters down the path of hope. May they see possibilities at the end; may they see the evidence of Your mercy; may they have a reason to be hopeful.
Closing Prayer: "The Prayer of Saint Francis"
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy. O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood as to understand; to be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen
