Encounter Climate Change

As Catholics, we recognize that prayer guides our actions, it binds us in solidarity to one another, and connects us more deeply with the grace that flows from God.

"Young people demand change. They wonder how anyone can claim to be building a better future without thinking of the environmental crisis and the sufferings of the excluded." - Pope Francis, Laudato Si, No. 13

According to the World Health Organization, 150,000 people die each year from the effects of climate change. This number is expected to increase as the effects of climate change intensify.

The number of people living in extreme poverty could increase by up to 3 billion by 2050 unless urgent action is taken to tackle climate change, deforestation, and air and water pollution. (2013 Human Development Report, UNDP)
